Project citizen is designed to give students the knowledge
of various ways and actions used in democratic political procedures.
The aim of the project is to develop students' awareness and
wish to become active citizens.
As part of the Project Citizen which has been carried out in
our school since the year 2000, we
have been organizing various activities.
One of them is the competition of
teams from Croatia on different topics dealing with civic education.
We organized this competition in the year 2001 and we have been
regular participants in «Project Citizen» competitions
that have been organized in a few Croatian towns.
For the past four years our students
have been dealing with the following important topics:
- Security on the Zagreb Fair
- Human trafficking
- Alcoholism among young people
- School bus regulation
- Zebra crossings in places with a lot of pedestrians
Every year in our school we
organize Project Citizen workshops for teachers, students and
parents. This way we all learn how to become responsible and active
citizens.
